About me:

In 2014 I resigned from the national airline to embark on a journey as a self-funded, self-employed entrepreneur. This journey provided me with opportunities to learn from my mistakes but positively changed my business practises to become more established and recognised as a registered training organisation and training provider.  In 2015 one year after beginning my journey of self-employment A.D Training obtained the status of RTO under National Training Council PNG. This was a hard and difficult road as there were many compliance standards which needed to be met. This was a financial burden however I was determined to see it through. Ideally, what I wish to achieve while attending is a vast network of professional organisations in the TVET, Institution, and University sector whom would like to share their qualifications and experiences with young Papua New Guineans who wish to obtain a world-class education which is currently not available in Papua New Guinea.

About me:

My name is Luania and I’m a seasoned corporate executive and business owner based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Over the past decade I’ve built and led a diverse portfolio of businesses in consulting, print technology, and information technology. I’ve had the privilege of forging strategic partnerships with firms across Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Outside of work, I’m a devoted wife and mother of two and an active supporter of community initiatives—everything from partnering with our local Police Family and Sexual Violence Units to aiding survivors and safe houses, to backing children’s wards, community clinics, and youth rehabilitation centres. I also serve on policy advisory committees and participate in business dialogues on gender‑responsive issues, including political participation, gender‑based and sexual violence, childcare, and human trafficking to name a few.

What you need to know about my business:

I’m the co-founder and principal strategist of Concept Management, a specialist consulting firm that drives targeted development projects for environment conservation and biodiversity, including nature-positive strategies and trade/export in PNG. An interesting aspect of our work is how we’ve blended commercial goals with social impact: through mentoring early‑stage startups—many led by women—we’ve seen them grow into significant contributors to our economy. One memorable project involved partnering with an Engan community collective group to enable access to overseas markets through exposure at international events and up-skill them with global training to transform their products into export‑ready brands, even amid challenging tribal conflicts. That experience showed me how the right mix of capacity‑building and market strategy can empower communities and deliver sustainable results.

My expectations of the APEC Women’s Business Activator program:

As I expand one of my entities into the global market, I aim to deepen my understanding of international strategic structures and processes. I’m particularly keen to learn best practices in governance, cross‑border collaboration, and scalable business models. I believe that the insights and networks I gain through this program will enable me to more effectively support our global teams and add significant value in my roles advising country‑level boards and stakeholders.

About me:

I am a decision-maker with the responsibility to oversee the capacity-building efforts for entrepreneurs, staff, and partner organizations in Papua New Guinea. My role within the government agency is pivotal, as I directly supervise the training programs designed to empower MSMEs. I believe this training presents an opportunity to gain valuable insights that I can bring back to enhance the support system for those I work with. By strengthening their capabilities, we can foster sustainable growth and resilience in the SME sector, ensuring that businesses not only survive but thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape. Additionally, this experience will allow me to contribute more effectively to policy development and strategic initiatives that drive economic advancement at both local and national levels.
