About me:

I'm Katerin Chavez, originally from Huancayo in the Peruvian highlands, now leading operations at Livio Uniformes, a Peruvian manufacturer scaling its institutional uniform operations across more than ten industries nationwide. I represent the next generation of leadership in a predominantly women-powered company, built and led by women from the start.

Livio was born 20 years ago as a family business in the backyard of Violeta Montero's parents' home. Our founder started with a couple of sewing machines, a cutting table, and a personal mission: to build a company in her own country that would create opportunities, especially for women. She grew Livio's name door to door, school to school, offering her work directly. That mission scaled. Today we serve institutions across Peru, from schools and healthcare to mining operations and corporate offices, delivering custom-designed uniforms with the precision and reliability that institutional clients demand.

I'm joining the APEC Women's Business Activator with a clear mission: to build the networks and knowledge Livio needs to enter international markets, starting with Australia. Twenty years serving the Peruvian market built our foundation. This program will help us take the next step beyond it.

About me:

My name is Marissé Alarcon Galván, and I am the Co-founder and CEO of Bamboo Balance, based in Peru. I am deeply passionate about the circular economy and driving sustainable consumer habits. My core philosophy is that we don't need a handful of people practicing "zero waste" perfectly; instead, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly to create real, systemic change. As a female entrepreneur in Latin America, I am dedicated to proving that business can be a powerful force for social, environmental, and economic good.

Bamboo Balance is a Peruvian triple-impact enterprise (environmental, social, and economic) that provides eco-friendly, everyday alternatives to single-use plastics and disposables—such as reusable cloth pads, natural alum stone deodorants, and ecological food wraps.

Our Story: One of the most beautiful aspects of our business is our supply chain. We work directly with native communities and local producers in the Peruvian jungle. For instance, by sourcing natural loofahs from these regions, we have helped transform a local plant into a steady, sustainable source of income for these families. This model not only protects our environment but also empowers local communities, which led us to be recognized as one of the "Companies that Transform Peru" (Empresas que Transforman el Perú) for our shared value model.

By joining the APEC Women’s Business Activator program, I aim to connect with and learn from a diverse network of visionary women leaders across the Asia-Pacific region. I am looking forward to gaining strategic insights on scaling our retail and e-commerce operations, discovering new ways to amplify our social impact model internationally, and finding potential partnerships that can help take Bamboo Balance to the next level of growth.

About me:

Thank you for the opportunity to share more about my journey and our company.

My name is Stephanie Quispe, and I am the founder of Peruvian Food. I have been working in the agro-industrial sector for over 10 years, gaining extensive experience in production, export operations, and international trade. A little over three years ago, I decided to take the step of founding Peruvian Food with the vision of connecting high-quality Peruvian agricultural products with global markets.

Peruvian Food was created with a strong commitment to adding value to our local producers and promoting the authenticity and quality of Peruvian products abroad. One of the most meaningful aspects of our journey has been building strong, long-term relationships with farmers and international partners. Starting a company in a competitive and demanding sector like agribusiness has required resilience, strategic thinking, and continuous innovation, especially as a woman leading in this industry.

By joining the APEC Women’s Business Activator program, I aim to strengthen our international expansion strategy, enhance leadership skills, and connect with other women entrepreneurs across the region. I am particularly interested in expanding our presence in new markets, improving our business scalability, and fostering sustainable growth for both our company and the communities we work with.

I look forward to learning, sharing experiences, and contributing actively to the program.
