A collaborative effort between the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and RMIT University’s Australian APEC Study Centre (AASC) and Graduate School of Business and Law (GSBL), this Digital Entrepreneurship project will culminate in a presentation to Asia-Pacific industry leaders in November.

Undertaken by a select group of RMIT students in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Melbourne, this project focused on the global shift towards the digital economy and the challenges and opportunities that will be derived from this, specifically for businesses in APEC member economies.

Through various research methods such as interviews and focus groups, these students sought to understand the new critical issues for policy makers in light of new digital technologies.

The report is significant as every APEC economy strives to support digital entrepreneurs and start-up firms that deliver new digital businesses, and products and services to create high value jobs and economic growth.

This report identifies a number of key issues for policy makers to inform endeavours to grow digital entrepreneurship. This project will contribute to APEC’s knowledge base and will be a key resource for individual economies, regulators, policy makers and program managers.

ABAC provides a platform for business to provide advice and input into the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) policy making processes. ABAC IV (4-7 November) forms part of the 2017 APEC Summit being held in Vietnam, which also incorporates the APEC CEO Summit (8-10 November) and APEC Leaders’ Meeting (11 November).
