Project Title: The risks and challenges of COVID-19 vaccine cold chain management
Project Outline:
The research design of this study will involve a comprehensive study on the COVID-19 vaccine cold chain and aims to identify key risks and challenges that affect the system. Furthermore, in order to analyze the various factors involved in the subject matter and how each relates to one another, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) will be used. SEM is a framework that includes methods like factor analysis and latent growth curve modelling as well as the
simultaneous solution of systems of linear equations. Upon having established the key relationships of the factors and risks involved in cold chain logistics, a system dynamics approach will be used to further describe the relationships and how these relationships translate to a possible dilemma within the cold chain. These findings would allow public health authorities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and distributors, among others, to execute COVID-19 immunization goals more efficiently and effectively. To guarantee that vaccination goals are fulfilled regardless of supply chain interruptions, the implications of the pandemic on related networks must be simulated in tandem with the COVID-19 vaccine cold chain itself using risk assessment. In the context of the study, this study will address important gaps in the existing cold-chain systems responsible for delivering vaccines across the globe. Moreover, academic engagements will be instrumental in developing further discussions about COVID-19 vaccine cold-chain management.
