Dr Nguyen Thi Lan Huong
The project will assess innovative strategies and emergent technology to treat wastewater and storm water in Australia technologies for transfer into Vietnam.

Project Title: Defining Innovative Strategies for Wastewater Treatment in Vietnam: Assessing appropriate new and emergent technologies for transfer into Vietnam.
Project Outline:
Dr Nguyen Thi Lan Huong will assess the technologies available for wastewater and storm water cleaning in Australia and follow this analysis with a comparative study between Australia and Vietnam. She is seeking to assess how a given technology or collection of these technologies might work under different environmental conditions ie. edge of urban areas, rural areas, Red River and Mekong areas.
Reasons for applying for fellowship:
"My proposed programme will allow me to further develop my research skills and knowledge in water pollution and its management, which is one of the most significant problems facing Vietnam's food production and rural sector''.
Past Achievements:
Prior to accepting the fellowship, Huong was working as the Vice Head of the International Cooperation Office at Thuyloi University and lecturing at the Faculty of Water Resources and Engineering. She has completed post-doctoral research in Japan on 'Heavy Metal Contamination of Soil and Crop in Farmland' in Hanoi. She has completed studies and attended conferences in Viet Nam, Japan and Australia With deep expertise on the topic of soil analysis, especially in heavy metal pollution, and how this affects bodies of water.
Huong won an "Award of Excellence" in recognition of her outstanding research in Geotechnical Engineering together With the "L'Oreal and UNESCO Award for Women in Science·. She is an experienced lecturer and has published in many high-quality journals.
