APEC Professional Services and Mutual Recognition Community of Practice
The APEC Professional Services and Mutual Recognition Community of Practice has been established to support those within APEC economies who are working on the development and implementation of Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) for professional services.
The Community of Practice is an open forum (non-decision making) within which the practical opportunities and challenges arising from the development and implementation of MRAs can be shared and discussed amongst peers.
Participating in the Community of Practice provides a range of benefits including:

-
A deeper understanding of how MRAs work in practice and how best to support their use, including in the context of increasing trade in services via the digital economy
-
The sharing of knowledge and experience of MRA practices, supporting capability and capacity building amongst peers
-
Peer to peer support around problem solving to meet specific opportunities and challenges
-
Networking amongst practitioners and accelerating the state of practice

There are four to five online sessions per year, and these are designed to maximise discussion and interaction between participants. The subject matter covered by the Community of Practice ranges from how to develop an MRA through to the digitalisation of recognition practices involved in implementing MRAs. Peers share the opportunity to lead sessions with the support of a facilitator, and a secretariat provides resources for supporting and tracking the activities of the community.
Membership is extended to officials, agencies and others who are:

-
From an APEC economy; and
-
Representatives of the following:
-
government, professional and skilled services regulator, accreditation bodies or related professional peak bodies.
-
